One of the central locations in DARK REMAINS was a closed prison in the town of Rome, GA. With its desolate corridors, old cells, and empty prison cots, it was an unsettling place for the crew to shoot at night - especially since the prison has a real ghost of its own. The prison guards and Warden who used to work there know the ghost as “Big Red.”

The filmmakers became much more interested in all the stories of “Big Red” after a few members of the crew had their own encounters late at night. After production wrapped, they returned and shot a documentary about “Big Red” at the prison. The Warden and guards all tell their stories about their encounters with the ghost, who it might be, and how he died. This documentary short will be an extra on the DVD.
